The Red Devils showed flashes of their old selves against a desperately flat QPR last week, with D.Blind and Di María settling in right away, but they should find Leicester’s defence a sterner test. Leonardo Ulloa has been in good form for N.Pearson’s team and having held Arsenal to a draw at home will be hopeful they can also team LVG’s side.

Manchester United aim to secure their third successive home league win against a Fulham side that are woeful on their travels. Fulham have failed to score in eight of their last 12 away games, conceding 28 goals. The reverse fixture in October saw Manchester United win 3-2 but a more regulation victory for the champions appears on the cards this time around.

Manchester United have not lost three consecutive home league games since 1979 and after 1-0 defeats to Everton and Newcastle United, they would be mortified with similar against West Ham. Sam Allardyce's side beat Tottenham Hotspur to reach the Capital One Cup semi-finals. That win came at White Harte Lane from a losing position and with Old Trafford less of a fortress now, the visitors will fancy their chances of leaving with something.

David Moyes' side welcome Newcastle to Old Trafford on Saturday having not lost to the Tyneside club on home soil since February 1972.

That stat provides a ray of light for the Scot, who has seen a disappointing start to the campaign. The Barclays Premier League champions have won just three of their seven home fixtures, scoring eight goals.

Wayne Rooney is suspended after picking up a fifth booking of the season against Everton and Robin van Persie has not featured in a matchday squad since United's 1-0 win over Arsenal on 10 November. His persistent groin and toe injuries mean the Dutchman's return date remains unknown and was coy about whether he would return.
