Fulham
Fulham have not had the greatest of starts to the season after playing a goalless draw against Bolton. Fulham will look to get a draw against Mancheter United at the maximum and do not undermine their chance of doing it at Craven Cottage. Last season, Fulham recorded one of the most surprising results of the campaign when they won this fixture 3-0 with goals from Danny Murphy, Bobby Zamora and Damien Duff. That was their second successive home win over United.
Fulham test Mark Schwarzer, who missed the draw at Bolton with a back injury. Left-back Paul Konchesky, absent at the Reebok Stadium, could also return.
Fulham – last few games
vs Bolton – Draw 0-0
vs Werder Bremen – Win 5-1
vs Portsmouth – Loss 1-0
Fulham (Possible, 4-4-1-1):
Schwarzer; Pantsil, Hangeland, Hughes, Konchesky; Davies, Etuhu, Murphy, Duff; Gera; Zamora.
Manchester United
Last season's Premier League runners-up will be looking to continue their good start to the football year. So far, Man U have overcome champions Chelsea in the Community Shield, before securing a comfortable 3-0 over newly promoted Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Monday, thanks to goals from Berbatov, Fletcher and Giggs.
Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves being the only long-term absentee, Ferguson can pick from a large pool of talented players, Evergreen veterans Giggs and especially Scholes may feature, as they continue to defy the ageing process with some stellar performances.
After starting the game against Newcastle United with both Berbatov and Rooney up front, Ferguson may be tempted to call on the same pairing again as Wayne Rooney in particular looks to recapture the form he showed through most of last season.
However, with promising Javier Hernandez impressing so far and midfielder Michael Carrick ready to come in too (not to mention Michael Owen), there may be changes in Man United's approach for their first away trip of the season.
Manchester United – last few games
vs Newcastle United – Win 3-0
vs Chelsea – Win 3-1
vs Airtriciy XI – Win 7-1
Manchester United (Possible, 4-4-2):
Van der Sar; O’Shea, Vidic, Evans, Evra; Valencia, Scholes, Fletcher, Nani; Rooney, Berbatov.
